Built a mesh network using 920 MHz LoRa, integrating battery-powered sensors and relay controllers into a single network, with centralized monitoring and control through OpenRemote. This article explains the roles of each device, communication paths throughout the network, and how the LoRa network connects to OpenRemote, including practical source code examples.

One of the greatest advantages of building a network using LoRa technology is the ability to establish and operate an independent wireless network without requiring a subscription or monthly communication fees from a telecom operator.

Under favorable conditions, such as open fields with a clear line of sight, LoRa can achieve communication distances of approximately 8 km.

These capabilities make LoRa ideal for a wide range of applications across large areas, including factories, parking lots, and agricultural fields. Potential uses include theft prevention, security monitoring, and remote monitoring and control of irrigation systems, lighting, and other equipment.
